SWIC Seeking distinguished alumnus/pacesetter nominations

The Southwestern Illinois College Board of Trustees is accepting nominations for the Distinguished Community College Alumnus and Pacesetter awards through Friday, Feb. 1.

Nominees for the Distinguished Alumnus Award must have completed a recognized program of instruction from SWIC (or the former Belleville Area College) prior to June 30, 2003. Nominees for the Pacesetter Award must have completed a recognized program of instruction from SWIC after June 30, 2003.

The Distinguished Alumnus Award honors an individual who completed a recognized program of instruction from the college more than five years ago and has proven to be outstanding in his or her career field or in the community. The Pacesetter Award honors an outstanding alumnus with those same distinctions who has completed a recognized program of instruction from SWIC within the last five years.

Criteria for the awards include:

Outstanding success and distinction in the nominee’s field,
Humanitarian service that has proven greatly beneficial to the community, and/or
Continued interest in and support of education and community colleges.

Art and Antiques from the Heart to Raise Funds for Children’s Programs – Treat your sweetheart to something different this year. How about an evening of fine dining and auctions, both verbal and silent, of vintage items, antiques and exquisite works by local artists?

Southwestern Illinois College Foundation is hosting Art and Antiques from the Heart, a black-tie-optional affair, Saturday, Feb. 16 at the St. Clair Country Club in Belleville. Proceeds will benefit children’s programming at the Schmidt Art Center.

Doors open at 6 p.m., with a cash bar and commencement of the silent auction. The meal will consist of chicken modiga and roast pork loin.

Tickets are $50 each and must be purchased in advance.

Reserve Now for Fireworks Cruise– Join SWIC other alumni July 5 for a dinner cruise and fireworks display over the Mississippi. Cost is $78 per adult or $58 per child, age 12 and younger. Included is round-trip motor coach transportation, escort, admittance to the boat,

dinner, fireworks (subject to the weather) and all taxes and gratuities. Children will have chicken strips for dinner. A vegetable entrée is available if required and must be written on your reservation form. Deadline for reservations is May 15.
